As a Mechanical Team Member for the Okemos Solar Racing Club, I work on the design and construction of our solar-powered vehicle. I worked on calculations for the electrical systems and ensured seamless integration of components to maximize energy efficiency.
I am actively involved in fundraising efforts, helping secure the $45,000 budget necessary for materials and race preparations, and ensuring our team has the resources needed to compete.
A solar racing car is a vehicle powered entirely by solar energy, designed to compete in solar car races that test efficiency and innovation. These vehicles are equipped with photovoltaic solar panels to harness sunlight and convert it into electrical energy, which powers the car's motor.
The design process involves maximizing energy efficiency through lightweight materials, aerodynamic shapes, and high-efficiency solar panels, all while ensuring the vehicle can travel long distances on solar power alone.
